is
for
Jane Austen.

Have you all been watching the new Masterpiece Theatre version of Emma?  I am a huge fan of Jane Austen and love to throw myself into her world when reading her books or watching the movies.

I loved the new version of Emma.  The sets were great - lots of great wallpaper!  And who can resist a Jane Austen love story?

Always ending with a kiss and a marriage!

My favorite Austen leading lady is Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice!  The PBS version of the story is incredible with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy!

If you are a Pride and Prejudice fan and want to know what might have happened after Lizzie and Mr. Darcy finally get married, then I strongly suggest reading Mr. Darcy Takes A Wife!  The book fulfills all of your fantasies of how great their marriage might be!  I read the whole book in one night!

I wanted to resist liking the newer movie version of Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfayden - but somehow they managed to make me love, love, love it - and watch it over and over again!  There is something about watching Mr. Darcy walk thru the rolling hills towards Elizabeth in the morning mist declaring his love for her!  It never gets old!

In every Jane Austen adaptation the houses are amazing - even though they are supposedly living quite meagerly!

And the dancing in the big halls makes me long for my own ball to go to - and get dressed up in my best dress!

I can definently relate to the bonds of sisterhood.

There are four girls in our family too!

I especially love the way all of Jane Austen's characters are always having long, leisurely picnics with their friends and neighbors!

What a view!
What's your favorite Jane Austen novel?

  3. I agree - they are all great. If you like these you should try to see the recent UK based ITV production of Wuthering Heights - dark but great - its was shown here in Australia but is also on dvd.
