Striped Shades.

I am thinking about making some striped roman shades like these.

I have a trio of windows with a radiatior below, which means shades are the only option.  I think the kelly green walls in that room would look great with the black and white stripes.

I like these red and white striped shades too!

The green and white shades look great next to the brown wall!

I love the red and white striped curtain in this bathroom!

Another dreamy interior by Mara Kalman!

These long, flowing curtains are pretty great too - but I don't think they will work with a radiator in the way.

Have any of you made your own roman shades?  If you have, was it easy?  A pain in the neck?  I may have to get my mom to help me with this project.

 Footed Pedestals.

I am crazy about this footed pedestal from Anthropologie!

I have a soft spot for dishes and vases with a foot!

I just want to fill it with cherries and put it at the center of the table!

Spun Sugar.

I am fixated on this lovely dessert with Spun Sugar!

I love the way Spun Sugar looks so delicate and ethereal!

It looks as easy as drying homemade pasta on a rack, but something tells me it is not that easy!

Our sister, Al, had a massive Croquembouche with Spun Sugar as her wedding cake (with chocolate mousse and baguettes on the side) and it was amazing!  Made by her sister-in-law who is an amazing pastry chef - leave it to the pros to make the Spun Sugar!  I am normally not afraid to cook or bake anything, but something tells me that I would have sticky sugar all over my kitchen if I tried this at home.

Built-In Bookcases.

I love homes with built-in bookcases.  They add so much character to a room.  All of the great Woody Allen movies always have an apartment full of built-in bookcases!

I love this long farm table too!

This library surely has some treasures inside!

Even better - built-in bookcases AND a fireplace!

I love the library ladder!

Perfectly cozy!

A dining table surrounded by books!

A beautiful bookcase by Bella Foster!

A bookcase in the hallway!

Valentine's Day Inspiration.

I love Valentine's Day!  It falls on my favorite month - February!  A month full of snow!  In my mind, a walk in the snow arm in arm is the epitome of romance!  I find no fault in a holiday devoted purely to expressing your love and appreciation for your loved ones!

These pink Anemones wrapped in newsprint are splendid!

I love this darling painting of a pearl necklace and earrings!

Breakfast in bed depicted so wonderfully by Mara Kalman!

I love these heart shaped sugar cookies wrapped in parchment!

A beautiful green typewriter to write all of your love notes!

And envelopes in every color to suit your mood!

Love this John Derian tray to hang on your loved one's wall!

This necklace makes my heart skip a beat!  Love it!  The colors are wonderful!

These velvet boxes in such wonderful colors are as brilliant as the rings that are inside!

Who could resist a cupcake so sweet!
I wish I could write so perfectly with frosting - that has to take a very steady hand!

is for Sinks.

One day, when I am living in my dream house, I would like to install one of these long porcelain sinks in the bathroom.

They are so charming!  Whenever I see one of these sinks they conjure up images in my head of a large, bustling family running around the house - and lots of hands pushing their way to the sink at the same time!
