My Paper Straw Wreath.

I was super excited to make a wreath out of my paper straws after I saw the cover of Woman's Day Magazine at the market.  Foolishly I thought I could figure out how to make one of my own without buying the magazine or looking online for the instructions!  I ended up making a wreath about twice the size that I intended - but I love it anyways!

I ended up using about 600 straws - I realized when I was halfway thru that I should have started with a smaller wreath form!  Oh well!

December.

I can't believe we are already well into December!  I love this time of year!  Sometimes I wish the holidays were at the end of January instead so we could all enjoy the festivities a little bit longer!  I'm looking forward to the snowy days ahead!

But we haven't had a good snow day yet.  In fact, the day after Thanksgiving we went for a walk in the dunes and the weather was so warm that the kids were playing on a sandbar!

Regardless, it's my favorite time of the year and I love seeing all of the cars driving around town with fresh cut trees on the roof!

Time to hang some wreaths and garlands - I love the smell of fresh greens around the house!

Grow some paperwhites!

And amarylis!

And wrap some presents of course!

Yard Sale Treasure.

Our mom's latest yard sale score is this pair of leather chairs all nice and worn in for $15.  They just needed a little bit of love.

My parent's pug Riley matches the chairs perfectly!

They found a home at our sister Al's house - my mom is a champion at finding good deals at yard sales and sharing with us all!

A Bit of Fall.

The fall weather has me loving all of the golden leaves on the ground, the rich colors of worn in leather, aged patinas on old metal trinkets, the warm glow of a lamp at dusk, bookshelves full of old favorites, road trips - I love this time of year!  How about you?
