is
for
Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I love Thanksgiving and always look forward to spending this day with my family.  When I was in college, I loved going home for Thanksgiving and relaxing with the family for a long weekend of leftover turkey sandwiches, walks with the dogs, and loved ones all around.  A wonderful escape from it all!  I still get that same feeling on Thanksgiving now.  At the end of the weekend we go to the Christmas tree farm and pick out a tree for the holidays.  Thanksgiving kicks off my favorite time of year!

Thanks to all of you who stop by Fric and Frac now and then!  Your comments and encouragement have been wonderful and inspiring!  Enjoy the pie!

 for
Blue Cake Stands.

I love cake stands!
The blue milk glass cake stands are my favorite!

The two tiered cake stands look adorable with these cupcakes with the cherries on top!

Or paired with a classic green milk glass cake stand!

I always hope I'll run across one in an antique shop, but I never see the blue ones.  There are plenty to be found on ebay, but buying things on ebay is never as fun as finding treasures in person!

is for Earflaps.

I love a good hat with Earflaps!
I love to knit and hats with earflaps and pom poms are my favorite to make!  These porcelain hats are super cute!  I wish they were bigger - like the size of a real hat!

There is a candle under that hat!

I think they would make great containers for salt and pepper on the table!

is for Rowboats.

If only I could hoist a little red rowboat like this thru the window of my third floor apartment!  I would put my Christmas tree inside and relish wrapping presents to fill the boat!  Even better - a live tree with the root ball still wrapped in burlap and rope!  I love wrapping presents ahead of time so you can enjoy looking at them for a while.

J.Crew always gets it right with the holiday catalogs!

The flag says it all.  I want to go to there!

Snow is one of my favorite things!

Love the plaid!

is for Whales.

I'm loving whales right now!
They speak to the preppy girl inside of me!

This whale pillow is gorgeous!

Love this whale on the mantle!

This one is pretty great too!

A brass whale.  These brass animals remind me of the kinds of things my grandparents had sitting on their desk.  There was always a special object like this to pick up and inspect.  I was mesmerized by them - and still love to see them appear in homes!

I love these Don Carney pictures!

This whale tote bag is super cute!  Would make a great gift!

The sweatshirt is pretty great too!  Check them out on Etsy!

Would love to fill this bowl full of nuts for the holidays!

Another great whale for the wall!  Love the way this one looks like it has been living by the beach for a long time.

A green whale filled with candy would be nice!

This one holds paper!

Super cute wooden tongs shaped like a whale's tail!

Charlie and Sarah make a whale t-shirt too!  I couldn't leave it out - so cute!

Last, but not least, the whale wallpaper that will find a way into my home one day!

is
for
 Dad.

Sorry I have been out of the loop for a while.  Last week was our dad's 74th birthday!  We celebrated with family all week.  Our sister, Gretchen, came to visit from Washington too!  I adore my dad!  He is the kind of dad all dad's should be - full of love, generosity, and exuberance!  My mom had a bit of a health scare recently and it was great to have the whole family together now that she is out of the woods and healthy again.  Lot's of things to celebrate!  I really lucked out with a great mom and dad!

I found this picture of them on Kentucky Lake when they were starting out their lives together.  48 years and still going strong!  Aren't they so cute!

is for Eagles.

I found this old metal eagle at a flea market over the summer for three dollars!  I like it mixed in with this grouping of silhouettes.

Then I saw this beautiful eagle on the front door of this gorgeous house.

Isn't this a beautiful home!  Now I am always noticing eagles on houses around Evanston!  That's what happens when you find something new that you like!

I love this entrance!  The eagle on the front door is over the top in the best way!  Love the yellow door too!

is for
Front Doors.
We love a good front door!
One day, when I have my own home, I will paint the front door a bright, cheerful color!

This home has the whole package!  Gorgeous tangerine door with a white picket fence!

Such a lovely yellow door.

Ok, I know this door is black, but I still want to walk inside!  Such a charming entry!

via NYTimes
A perfect red entrance with matching window box in New York City.

This front door stands out on this charming cobblestone street!

I love the large house number on this yellow door and the pair of boxwood balls on each side.

Isn't this home so charming!

A red door and a red fence!  The ivy is just gravy!

Remember the green door on the cover of the first issue of Blueprint?  Loved it!

I'll never tire of this entrance.

Last, but not least, I'll add one of these!  I have a soft spot for these large sea scallop door knockers!
What color is your front door?  Or, if you are like me, what color is the front door of your future dream house?
