My Monogram Bag.

A while back I decided to make my own monogram bag so I went to the local Vogue Fabrics and bought some black canvas for $1.99/yd and got started.  After deciding on a horseshoe shape and sewing the bag together I broke out the freezer paper and some paint.

The hardest part of this project was waiting for the paint to dry in between steps!  I like to use Jacquard's Textile paint.

Two green stripes!

With a white stripe down the middle.

After doing this on both sides I added the monogram.  Then I put a clear coat of varnish over all of the paint.

The finished product!  The perfect tote for the summer!

Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day!
Wishing a wonderful day to all of the mother's out there!  Isn't this the cutest picture of our mom when she was a little girl!  Our mom is the best - and I am so grateful to have her in my life!  She is a great listener, super creative, and has always been so supportive of all of us!  Four girls is a handful.  I adore her!

is for Magazines.

The past week has been a big one-full of highs and lows. Magazines can be so inspiring. They are full of pictures and stories to capture the imagination. They remind me of hanging out at my parent's house. Whenever my sisters and I go home, we sit around the fireplace in the kitchen and flip through magazines and talk to our mom and dad. First, we catch up on all of the new ones and then we start looking at the old ones that we have read countless times. Of course we get them all mixed up and my parents say they have no idea where the new issues are! My mom has tons of shelter magazines and food magazines stacked up around the house. There is always something different that catches your eye when you look at the old issues. This image reminds me of those moments. Coffee, magazines, and family.
My mom is always saying she is going to go thru the magazines and get rid of the old ones-or worse, stop subscribing completely, but where is the fun in that? Long live our family tradition of magazines, conversation, and loved ones!

is for Maps.

We love Maps!
They are so beautiful-old and new! There is something about maps and globes that is so enchanting. They allow you to dream and make plans in your head. I love all the details and colors! I love to give globes to newlyweds because they seem to symbolize all of the places they will go together in life. Very romantic!
I have a large retractable map of the world like this one above my bed and I love it!
There is another one of Africa in my living room. I love these old educational maps and look for them at every flea market.

Such a great idea to put the map in the window panes of the door!

I love this bench with the two framed maps above it!

What a great workroom!

Globes and a map! I have been collecting little globe banks like this for years. I love them when they are a bit beaten up by time.

Rach just got a map like this one to wallpaper the walls in her son's bedroom. I can't wait to get started and see the finished project!

Love the blinds!

Gorgeous dresses made of maps by Elizabeth LeCourt.

A map and a silhouette in one room - two of my favorite things!

Love the framed maps up the stairs!
